Have you actually played the original Cave Story, though? It's freeware that can be found online, with an English patch, too! It is a must-play.

That might have helped. It looks familiar, but I don't remember playing it or at least all of it. Between playing and testing all these games over the years you kind of forget what's what. I've mixed games up so often that I can't even remember what goes to what tittle sometimes, since I played them all around the same time.
